I do literary translations in Russian and English

About me

I am a Russian/English literary translator. I specialize in translating poems and other literature from Russian to English and vice versa. I’m passionate about finding the right words to convey exactly what the original author intends. It can be difficult, but I relish the challenge! As a copywriter, I can also translate other texts in addition to literature and poems. I’m inspired by beautiful poetry, traveling the world, and all of the people I’ve met through my translation business.

What is your primary focus as an independent professional?

I do literary translation of books, stories, articles, poetry. I think that this kind of translation can only be done by a person who writes poetry himself. This type of translation needs to be felt.

What makes you uniquely special?

I’m one of those people who think that education doesn’t play an important role in the translation of poetry. You need to be a creative, talented, and emotional person. I don't translate texts automatically, I put my heart and soul into it.

How do you keep the creative fires burning?

I read a lot of books, poems, especially Edgar Allan Poe. I study how to translate different styles of literary texts, how to correctly translate different stylistic techniques. Also I take part in different kinds of contests.

Who inspires you?

All things that I have around inspire me and traveling, of course. Every people have a dream, I want to save some money and buy a motorcycle to travel around our planet.

Why do you love doing what you do?

I love doing what I do because it brings me happiness and joy, I really like it. I like to convey feelings in writing, spend sleepless nights, and look for the correct and most appropriate translation.

Have you always been independent? What has your career trajectory been?

I worked as a copywriter, I translated texts from Russian into English and vice versa, made up with slogans, created names for different organizations. So, now I work as a CSA( Customer Success Associate)

Who are some of the clients you have worked with?

I have worked with various clients, but usually my clients are writers. I like working with people, because we are all different, you learn new things all the time.

What is the most significant (to you) project you have worked on?

I worked with the Belarusian writer, Maxim Bazilevich.  Unfortunately, he is disabled and he has infantile cerebral paralysis. So, I translated some of his poems from his book ’50 shades of life’. It was interesting work but also difficult because you have to put yourself in the place of the person who wrote these poems, to convey all the feelings that he wanted to convey to the readers.

What kinds of projects are you open to?

I’m open to all your crazy ideas connected with literature translation (all kinds).
