What is your primary focus as an independent professional?

My primary focus as an independent professional is to create space and time for others. I have spent an innumerous amount of time behind the chair, behind a desk, and in my office at home trying to complete all of my tasks for the day. It seemed the time I was allotted during the day always fell short of the time I needed for my tasks. As an independent professional, I have come to learn, understand, and thoroughly appreciate how important it is to put systems in place to be truly successful. At this stage in my career, I feel that others who seek this balance need to know that it is possible. With my expertise, being an independent professional opens a variety of doors to initiate procedures, streamline, and support others on their journey to success. I love every moment!

How have you benefited from mentors in your career?

I feel strongly that benefits come from humility. Sometimes we miss the opportunity to learn and grow because we stay so busy. Personally, I have missed some great opportunities because I kept my head down to try to get everything completed. When I realized this, I began to work with intention. My intention was to be better, to grow, to experience my understanding of success. This allowed me to meet amazing people, mentors, who are open and willing to share. By listening to their success stories, I continued to dream. By listening to their failures, I continued to grow. I have learned to stay humble and listen to those around me, because you never know where your next conversation may lead.
