What is your primary focus as an independent professional?

Helping businesses tell their stories and getting their message out there. I use my writing and research skills to produce copy, write blogs, and ghostwrite books for my clients.

What makes you uniquely special?

I have a PhD, and I’m dedicated to well-researched, accurate content. I’m very good at taking complex content and making it accessible to the average reader.

How do you keep the creative fires burning?

I’m a very creative person, and I have practices such as daily writing and meditation that make space for new ideas to come to me.

I’m motivated by helping people tell their stories and thrive when I’m collaborating with clients to achieve their objectives.

Why do you love doing what you do?

I’ve always loved reading and writing, and I express myself best through the written word. I’ve spent my entire life developing writing and research skills and helping others communicate their ideas, so I’m thrilled to make a living doing what I love.

Have you always been independent? What has your career trajectory been?

I’ve worked in various roles, including as an editor at a publishing house and for a nonprofit, a writer for magazines, businesses, and nonprofits, and a university lecturer in writing. Although I’ve worked in different spheres, my focus has always been writing, developing, teaching, helping people, and making ideas accessible to all.

How do you continue to grow your professional skills?

I’m always learning new skills that help enrich my offerings and, such as building a website and how to market and advertise. I love reading books on a variety of topics and learning from experts in writing, marketing, and entrepreneurship.

Luckily, I have opportunities to learn through my work. For instance, I am currently working with an entrepreneur writing notes for his podcast where he interviews business experts and other entrepreneurs, which I’ve learned so much from.

How have you benefited from mentors in your career?

I’ve reached out to other professionals throughout my career and asked how they got to where they are today. Getting encouragement from experts and seeing that my goals are possible has been incredibly important for me.

Who are some of the clients you have worked with?

I’ve worked with clients in various sectors such as education. I worked as a teacher for 18 years and collaborated with education companies to create lessons and curriculums.

I’ve also written in the health and wellness space, which I’m passionate about. I was an online health magazine editor, and I am skilled at researching and writing about alternative and traditional medicine. In the past few years, I’ve also worked as a writer/editor for and about legislation and legal matters as well.

What is the most significant (to you) project you have worked on?

I’ve worked on a wide range of projects, but two that stand out are the entrepreneur podcast notes and a children’s book that I’m currently ghostwriting for someone in public office, which is great fun.

I’ve been able to work with numerous companies on different writing projects, and I can adapt my style to each project.

What does the perfect job look like to you?

I'd love to work with someone on a business book, whether it’s coaching, editing, or ghostwriting. I read a lot in that area, and I’m skilled at organizing content and writing manuscripts. I love building relationships with clients; working on a book is an excellent opportunity for that.

What kinds of projects are you open to?

I would love to build a relationship with a client, learn about their company and their needs, and then tailor content for them, whether blog posts or white papers.
